現在アメリカ→日本行きの機内の中から今回のトリップについて振り返っています。最初の数日間はSICのオフィスがあるSan Clementeでトレーニングとミーティング。有名のダナ・ポイント・ハーバーでのトレーニングは最高でした。この場所は朝から晩までパドラーが集まりレーサーだけでなくクルージングしているパドラーも沢山。多いときはマリーナに１００人以上のパドラーが集まっています。日本もいつか、このようになってくれたらなと思います。
San Clementeは世界的に人気なSUPブランドの本社が５社以上あります。カリフォルニアは地元ブランドのSIC, RivieraとInfinityが圧倒的に多かったです。世界的にもこの３社は勢いに乗ってると雑誌の編集長から聞きました。
On my way home on the airplane from my 10 day trip in the US. First couple days of training and meetings at the SIC office turned out to be an epic time. It had been 7 years since I stepped foot on the mainland so it was exciting.
It was my first time paddling out from the famous “Dana Point Harbor” and it was awesome. I really felt that San Clemente and Dana Point is the Mecca of SUP. The amount of people that train for races and that paddle recreationally was astounding. There were paddlers on the water from sunrise to sunset. I hope that one day this happens in Japan too.

San Clementeでの数日間を終えた後はアメリカ時代のベストフレンドのアダムと再会。僕を子供の頃からかわいがってくれていたAdamの親にも会えたので本当に良かったです。
After spending an awesome week in San Clemente, I got to spend a day with Adam, who is my best friend growing up. It was great seeing his mom and dad who I consider as my family. Mahalo for the hospitality.
そこからはOutdoor Retailerという北米で一番大きいアウトドアの展示会の為にUtah州へ向かいSICクルーと合流。世界のトップパドラーでありSICのグローバルライダーのLivioやLina。そしてカナダの国境からメキシコの国境までSICのF16で漕いだWill。他にもSICのスタッフとセールスレップたちと朝から晩まで楽しい時間を過ごしました。
From there, I headed over to the Utah for Outdoor Retailer and met up with the whole SIC crew. Team riders Livio and Lina who are one of the best paddlers in the world. It was also great meeting Will who paddled from the border of Canada all the way to Mexico in 2 months on the SIC F16. That is 1400 miles of paddling. His voyage amazed and inspired me for future outrigger voyages and maybe SUP expeditions here in Japan. And the SIC staff and sales reps made for non stop fun the whole trip!

初日に行われた試乗会「Open Water Demo」はかなり盛り上がっていました。大きい湖で３０社以上がSUPやカヤックの試乗会。１００人以上のパドラーたちが沢山のブランドの板を試乗していました。日本でもいつかこのような試乗会ができるといいなと思いました。
The open water demo that took place in Huntsville, Utah was crazy. I had never seen so many paddlers out demo-ing boards like that. Hopefully one day we can have open water demos like that in Japan.
普段海で漕いでいるので標高が高いところで漕ぐのも新しい経験でした。フラットウォーターで他社の板と漕ぎ比べるとSICのX-seriesがどれだけいい性能の板かが分かります。
Paddling around the lake in high altitude was a new experience . The flat water really helped me notice how flawless and fast the X-series are.

その後のOutdoor RetailerはSUPブランドのブースで盛り上がっていました。沢山の人との出会いがありアメリカのSUPのメディアの人たちも日本のSUPシーンに興味持ってくれていました。Sanukの仕事でORに来ていたアダムとも再会。展示会では朝から晩まで毎日無料でビールが配られていました！

The following days at Outdoor Retailer was crazy. So many SUP brands and other innovative products. It was great getting to meet so many people and reuniting with my brother Adam who was there with Sanuk.
今回の展示会ではSICに興味を持っているショップやディーラーの人たちが凄く多いなと感じました。このブランドのライダーとして活動できることに感謝です。
It was great to see so many people interested in SIC at the Open Water Demo and the show. The innovative designs by mark and what the guys at SIC has put together really made the brand stand out.
今回のトリップでは沢山の習得がありました。今後アメリカ本土に行く機会が増えそうなので楽しみです！
All in all, this trip was a new experience and hopefully a first of many trips the Mainland USA.
次は来週茅ケ崎で開催される世界戦です。沢山の世界レベルの選手が来日すると聞いているので彼らとどれぐらい戦えるか楽しみです！
Can’t wait back on the training regime though! Big race coming up next weekend and a chance to paddle against some of the worlds best in Japan. Should be exciting!
